Emergency Management Security
POLICY:
The following provisions have been made for the security of the physical plant, patients and employees of the hospital during emergency situations.

PROCEDURE:
Employees of the hospital are required to wear name tags or carry cards identifying them as employees.  Only persons with proper identification shall be admitted to hospital during an emergency.

At the time the Code D is activated and announced on the PA system, the Engineering personnel on duty or on call will be responsible for locking all exits and entrances with the exception of the Emergency Department and main entrance.  All entry and egress from the facility will be controlled by engineering personnel or appropriate designee.

Relatives:
Relatives may be discouraged from accompanying patients over 18 years of age unless necessary due to communication difficulties.
All relatives may be directed around the outside of the building to the waiting area. (Cafeteria and Atrium area)

No visitors for inpatients will be allowed unless the patient is critical and permission is received from nursing unit.

There will be at least two (2) people assigned outside the hospital to direct vehicles delivering patients.  The Boone County Emergency Management or law enforcement may be called for assistance.

All emergency/disaster patients will be unloaded at the ambulance entrance and will not enter the ambulance garage.
