SYMPTOMS OF Influenza: Fever (greater than 100 F or 37.8 C), sore throat, cough, stuffy nose, chills, headache and body aches, and fatigue. If you have these symptoms, CALL your physician or the Emergency Department for instructions. TIPS TO STAY HEALTHY There are everyday actions people can take to stay healthy. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it. Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way. Clean places you have frequent contact with, such as doorknobs and light switches, as well as your desk or work area at work.Try to avoid close contact with sick people. Influenza is thought to spread mainly person-to-person through coughing or sneezing of infected people. If you get sick, CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.Iowa Department of Public Health Information Hotline 1-800-447-1985 LINKS TO TRUSTED SOURCES OF INFORMATION REGARDING H1N1 Click This Link for Information from the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) Click this Link for Information from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Click This Link for Information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Click This Link for Information from the World Health Organization (WHO)1> |
